Legend of the Acorn

Acorns have long been thought to be good luck symbols since oak trees are considered sacred. The old saying "from little acorns come mighty oaks" reflects the protective nature of a mother's belief that when one provides nurturing and care, one can anticipate great results. Acorns are also believed by many people to represent the rebirth of life as witnessed through the coming of the Christ Child. Early Christmas trees were laden with cones, cookies, and nuts, most notably acorns, to commemorate this gift of life and good fortune. This tradition is still perpetuated today with the glass Acorn ornament.
